Visitors to the Queen Mary, a retired ocean liner now permanently docked in Long Beach, California, frequently report experiencing paranormal phenomena especially on December 25th, including sightings of a young girl believed to have drowned in one of the ship’s pools. This particular ghost is often referred to as “Jackie.”
Jackie is said to have drowned in the second-class swimming pool, which no longer exists. Despite the pool’s removal, her spirit is reportedly seen and heard in various areas of the ship, particularly around the first-class pool. Guests have described hearing giggling, noticing wet footprints, and even catching glimpses of a young girl playing in the pool area.
The second-class pool was removed when the Queen Mary was converted into a hotel and museum. The space that once housed this pool is now part of the lower deck exhibit area and includes public restrooms. The area immediately behind the former pool location has been transformed into the “Royal Theatre,” which is used for various exhibits and presentations.
