Leap Castle, located in Coolderry, Roscrea, Co. Offaly, Ireland, is notorious for its paranormal activity, particularly involving an entity known as the Elemental. This malevolent spirit, described as a small, hunched creature with a decaying face and hollow eye sockets, is often accompanied by a foul odour reminiscent of decomposing flesh and sulphur. The Elemental is reported to manifest most strongly on Samhain (October 31st), an ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest season.
It is believed that on this day, the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest, allowing spirits to cross more easily. Visitors and paranormal investigators have noted an increase in encounters with the Elemental during Samhain, including stronger manifestations of its odour, more frequent sightings, and heightened feelings of dread.
The origins of the Elemental remain uncertain, with theories suggesting it may have been summoned during occult practices by the Darby family or connected to the ancient druidic site on which the castle stands. Current owner Sean Ryan has reported numerous encounters with the Elemental, noting its constant presence in the castle, particularly during this significant date.
