Each year on December 24th, Newstead Abbey, once a former priory and later the home of poet Lord Byron, is said to be visited by the ghost of a phantom monk. Steeped in legend, the abbey has long been associated with this eerie presence. Witnesses claim the monk glides silently through the corridors, making his annual appearance on Christmas Eve, a tradition that has reportedly persisted for centuries.
