Minsden Chapel is a 14th century ruin located in an isolated wooded area near Hitchin, Hertfordshire. This atmospheric site has become legendary for its supernatural reputation, particularly the ghost of a phantom monk. This ghostly monk is said to appear at midnight on All Hallows Eve (Halloween), climbing a set of stairs that no longer exist in the chapel’s north east area. This apparition is traditionally accompanied by the phantom tolling of bells, a particularly eerie detail, given that the chapel’s bells were stolen by 1725.
