Catherine Howard’s ghost haunts Hampton Court Palace’s Haunted Gallery on February 13th, the anniversary of her execution in 1542. The haunting recreates her desperate final moments when, upon learning of her impending execution, she broke free from her guards and ran screaming through the gallery in a futile attempt to reach King Henry VIII who was attending chapel. Though she tried to plead for mercy, she was unsuccessful and was later executed at the Tower of London.
